Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw YearsReviewsI'm so glad I found this series. I also have the first of the t.v. series Lonesome Dove, also purchased through Amazon. These two t.v. series are among my most favorite possessions! I totally recommend them to western fans, especially if you're looking for "clean" shows. I like these movies, but they were really not anything close to the real lonesome dove movies. If they were trying to portray "Newt" I think they did a bad job. But they were enbtertaining. My family have watched the newer Lonesome Dove. It was nice to see what had lead up to the ones done with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. If you enjoyed the newer ones you must see where the story evolved from. THE DVD PLAYED GOOD BUT THEY CUT SOME OF THE MOVIE AT THE END THAT WAS THE MOVIE MAKERS FAULT NOT THE SELLERS FAULT I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE TOLD TO ALL BUYERS OTHER THEN THAT GOOD STUFF. This is my second purchase of these movies, I purchased this for a friend of mine. They are great and I know they will be enjoyed. Average Rating:![]() |

Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows (1998 TV Movie)ReviewsHITMAN HART WRESTLING WITH SHADOWS I still remember when this documentary came out right after the Montreal incident that happened to Bret in the WWF. Right after Bret went to WCW this documentary hit the selves, and my brother being the huge Bret Hart fan that he is went and bought the video and the soundtrack to go along with it. I happened to be going through some of his cd's to listen to when I came across this album. I couldn't believe that I had forgotten about this cd, and couldn't believe even more that I had forgotten the documentary. But I'll eventually get to the film later; right now let's concentrate on the soundtrack. 1.HITMAN THEME INTRO-this nice piece of work came from the mind of KEITH SCOTT, I' am guessing he worked for WCW as the music guy since this was Bret's entrance music in WCW. It definitely is off the hook although I still identify Bret with his music from the WWF [WWE], but I like this music almost as much. When he first debuted in WCW with this music it took me a while to get used to it. Also at the end of this it's cool to hear Bret talking about what he believes in and that he won't lie to his fans, also is that JIM ROSS at the end saying "what do you got to do to beat this man", if it is how did they score that over a WCW track.5/5 2.SHARPSHOOTER {BEST OF DA BEST}-it sounds very cool to hear a rap song about Bret especially since hip hop is my favorite type of music. I like how the RASCALZ flipped it with the Hitman influenced beat and the samples of Bret saying "I am the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be". Also it's cool to hear them rapping using metaphors about wrestling and Bret's moves and sloguns.5/5 3.LIE DETECTOR-I `am not really a rock guy as much as I' am a rap guy, but I do keep an open mind and do find some of it very good. This happens to be one of the times I enjoy what I' am hearing, I' am not sure if there was a single to this cd but if there was this would have been a good choice. This song seems like it fits the album to good, as in this could be a song directed at VINCE MCMAHON. Think about it a song about someone lying about something as in the Montreal incident. Also they have a sample of Vince saying Bret's name at the end immediately followed by Bret saying "the key to being a great good guy is being able to work with a great bad guy", any body remember what Vince became in the public's eye after that infamous day. And also the name of the band is DDT, a wrestling move, so obviously they watch wrestling. Since this song happens to be good and I believe that it is a message I'll give it.5/5 4.SUPERBEAST-we follow that one with another rock song, this one by ROB ZOMBIE. Now I am familiar with Mr. Zombie since I am going to school for filmmaking and I love both his films, "THE DEVIL'S REJECTS" is a fav of mine. But long before those days I was following his music video career because his videos were always so creative. I happen to have heard this song before and I think it's pretty good, in fact it is one of the best songs on the cd. Also it is a very hype song, so all those in need of getting hyped up can get with this track.4.5/5 5.SELF APPOINTED LEADER-this is one of those high tempo screaming and yelling rock songs, with the guy just yelling the lyrics. So as for the way the song is sung I can't get with it, but the lyrics are cool if you pay attention, and could be another message directed at Vince. Also I like the beat and melody in this song, if it would have had actually been sung I would have loved it, GOB did ok though.3.5/5 6.HALFWAY-again we have another rock song, this one is easy to follow and has a nice beat. It kinda sounds like a 80's song though, which I guess is cool cause I like it. GLORITONE did a good job with this track.4/5 7.ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE-this one seems a little to happy and upbeat and I've always been a sucker for those, it's ok though and has nice vocals. It's a pretty cool song but I don't remember where the song was on the documentary. As I listened to this song more it kinda grew on me, over all a good song. I was surprised to see that BRYAN ADAMS did this song, I didn't think I would like any thing from him.4.5/5 8.FLAME-another rock song after another seems to be the thing now, and like the others this one is pretty good as far as rock music goes. It really isn't my type of music but this track is kinda cool. I like the way SEBADOH laid this track down, seems like something Cypress Hill could get down on.4.5/5 9.PEPPY ROCK-this song is definitely hip hop influenced with its nice head nodding beat and scratches, the only problem is that the band BTK sounds like a Limp Bizkit rip off. But as far as the song goes it's pretty cool, and like Fred Durst they kinda sing and kinda rap and go back and forth so it's ok. Also there's a nice sample of Bret talking at the end.4/5 10.TOUCH, PEEL & STAND-out of all the songs on here this one could definitely been a single for the album. I like the simplicity of this song, and DAYS OF THE NEW do a great job with this song. I can see a video montage of Bret with this song playing over it; it kinda seems like something Bret would listen to.5/5 11.ORIGANAL SCORE-excellent score for the film, this is a brilliant piece of work that is haunting and enchanting. Definitely a highlight of the soundtrack.5/5 12.RESURRECTION-another great song from this album, like I said I' am not a huge rock fan but I like this song a lot. I love the beat and melody in this song, and the vocals are nice to. This song just sounds like it belongs on the airwaves as a single, MOIST has created an excellent song, plus Bret speaks at the end.5/5 13.SPARKLE & SHINE-this one is a really fast paced song with a hard edge, not that it's bad. Because unlike most songs like this, I like this one. The way the track is put together with all the instruments is excellent, plus it wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought on first inspection that this would be one of those ones were the guy is just screaming on the track, over all a nice song.4.3/5 14.SOFT-this one sounds like it should be a wrestler's entrance music, this also sounds like it could have been a single for the album. SECOND COMING does a pretty good job on this song. The lyrics are cool and the sound of the song is good, so over all a good track.4/5 15.ORIGONAL SCORE-excellent way to end the album here, it kinda reminds me of how Bret left the WWE [WWF at the time]. The smooth guitar mixes well with the other instruments to create this work of art.5/5 This is with out a doubt a very good purchase for any fan of rock music or Bret "Hitman" Hart fan out there. This CD is awesome! Most CD's have at least a few songs that you skip over but this CD has none (except for the original scores). It has his WCW theme which is impossible to find and other great songs--whether you like rock, metal, or rap. It's an awesome CD to listen to anytime, especially driving or working out. BRET HART IS THE BEST EVER WRESTLER AND THIS IS THE BEST CD! A MUST BUY. ALL THE TRACKS ARE COOL. IT IS AS GOOD AS WWF AGGRESSION. If you really love this guy Bret "The Hitman" Hart, then you have to get this cd. His theme in WCW is on this which is hard to find, plus he gives you all of his favorite songs that he has listened to. The movie and the cd are very emotional. You need to get this cd. This is the sound track to the documentry that shows how underhanded the WWF is, "Hitman Hart Wrestling with Shadows". In this sound track, however, you will hear great theme music from Bret's days in WCW (yes, his WCW theme song is complete and this was a toughy to find by theme traders!). There is also great metal and rap music on it. I'm not much for rap but the songs that are ont his CD are pretty good. It is one of the best CD's I've heard. Average Rating:![]() |

Wrestlemania - The AlbumReviewsThis album may not have that great of songs, but I've had it since it came out way back in 1993. It is great for nostalgic purposes and brings back many memories. It is for long time wrestling fans. What's great about it is that I have it signed by Tatanka when I met him way back then. To be fair to this CD(I haven't the slightest idea why), I decided to torture myself with this album yet again so I can review it properly. So let the torture begin! Wrestlemania(3:35)-The first track starts off with a bang NOT! Bad, bad promos from wrestlers.I know what you guys must be thinking other than "Walker, what in the world are you doing to yourself by listening to this?" :Why are there wrestling promos in a song,eh? Well, I never said this album had to be well thought out so there. Bad backing locals and bad rapping from God knows who. This is only the beginning friends. Summerslam Jam(3:16)- Wow! This is the most annoying song I've heard in a long, long time. More promos from Bret Hart(my fav. wrestler), Bulldog, Randy Savage, and the Undertaker. Though I like Bret Hart at no time felt any love for this album. The refrain puts me to sleep. Verses from idiotic rapper again. U.S.A.(3:13)-"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan sings this number. I'm beginning to wonder if William Shatner is better. Anyone have a Shatner album I can borrow. Jim does a huge promo(no singing involved thank God) and HOOOS while some people say U.S.A. Extremely redundant and nausiating. Nasty Boys Stomp(3:36)- Obviously the Nasty Boys do this pathetic riff. Ironic, they say '93 is the year of the Nasty's but they were fired before '93 even ended. Continuation of sayings and chanting and singing. Makes me want to cry going any further with this. Pass the hammer so I can end the pain in my head. Never Been A Right Time To Say Goodbye(3:40)- Bret Hart gets to sing a love song. Let's see: (you) Love song, wtf. This song makes me laugh insanely. I don't think that's the reaction they wanted. Poor Bret being forced to do a crappy CD. The Man In Black(3:33)- Undertaker takes the stage with this one. Electric guitar agoing. Clownlike music, I think. My minds shot. Can't possibly go on. Ultimate redundancy here. Speaking From The Heart(3:25)- Macho Man brings us the joy of his pitiful attempt at rapping. Rhyming a 2 year old could do. Raps about the planets and stars for some reason. Maybe he felt he needed to teach us astronomy, I don't know. Tatanka Native American(3:39)- Tatanka Buffalo Tatanka Buffalo. I get it. That's about all the song I remember even as I am listening right now. Tatanka Buffalo. I'm Perfect(3:44)-Mr. Perfect takes center stage on this one. Basically his theme music mixed in with a pathetic dialogue(singing) of Curt"Mr. Perfect" Henning. To say this song sucked is an understatement, but nothing can suck as bad as Savage rapping about the galaxy so maybe the worst of the storm is over. Blasted CD: Why don't you end? Hard Times(3:31)-The Big Bossman finishes this extremely crappy trash. Lame. So much emotion from singer, but also so much crappy lyrics to mess with the brain. Bossman says about 3 lines(thank God). The only problem is it is played over and over like the emotional refrain. YAY! It's finally over. Ironically Simon "American Idol" Cowell was executive producer of this rubbish. Maybe I can get him to sign this. Average Rating:![]() |

WWE WrestleMania 13 - Heat! [VHS]ReviewsWrestlemania returned to Chicago after 11 years since Wrestlemania 2. I think this wasn't a bad Wrestlemania even though it has gotten a couple of bad reviews. Match for match, this Wrestlemania is pretty solid. This Wrestlemania began the "Dark Days" while hosting a match that will never be forgotten for years and years to come. 4 Team Elimination Match The Godwinns vs. The New Blackjacks vs. Doug Furan & Philip Lafon vs. The Headbangers The winners of this match would get a title shot at the WWF Tag Team Champions the next night on RAW. John "Bradshaw" Layfield made his WM debut here as one half of the New Blackjacks. The Headbangers was also making their debut with their unique style and their crazy, rocker attire. Everybody in this match put in a good effort and this match produced a very good and fun opener. 3.5/5 Intercontinental Championship Rocky Maivia vs. The Sultan This match right here led to Rocky Maivia morphing into The Rock as everybody knows today after the loud BOO's and "DIE ROCKY DIE" chants from the Chicago crowd. However, Rocky and the Sultan put on a pretty decent match up for the IC Title. Rocky gets a quick roll up for the win and we get a special appearence from Rocky's dad Rocky Johnson for a post-match reunion among father and son. 3.25/5 Hunter Hearst Hemsley vs. Goldust Triple H and Goldust was continuing their feud here that began around the time of the Royal Rumble and also the arrival of Chyna took place as well. The future "cerebral assassian" and the "Dream's boy" surpassed their match from the Rumble. It got a little dull at times but the good over shadows the bad here. A very good match and one of the bests of the night. 4/5 WWF Tag Team Championship British Bulldog and Owen Hart vs. Mankind and Vader Vader and Mankind is probably the most unlikiest of teams ever and it showed here as the crowd were showing favoritism for heels Bulldog and Hart in this match. Even with the disappointing double count out end, this was a surprisingly good tag team bout. A very enjoyable match. I also recommend viewing Owen's interview with Jim Ross before the match. 4/5 Submission Match with Ken Shamrock as the Special Referee Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin The match was just all out warfare as the match began on the outside with Hart and Austin fighting into the crowd until they made their way back to the ring where Austin and Hart used steel chairs and ring bells on each other. And Austin soon getting busted open after taking a shot into the steel rail. Just classic match. Ends with Austin passing out in his own puddle of blood to the Sharpshooter. 5/5 [Match also available on Bret Hart: The Best There Is, The Best There Was, And The Best There Ever Will Be] Chicago Street Fight Legion of Doom & Ahmed Johnson vs. The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Savio Vega, & Crush) This is a match that you have to appreciate the effort that every man involved put in. The Road Warriors returned to their hometown to team up with Ahmed Johnson to end this feud with the Nation of Domination & Ahmed had. The match has many hardcore spots but it was just too spot festy which was its down fall. A decent match up but really couldn't top the match place infront of them. 3.75/5 WWF Championship Sycho Sid vs. Undertaker Okay, before the match got underway Bret Hart came out to cut a very entertaining heel promo about him getting screwed out of his title shot against Shawn Michaels (who was doing commentary). Bret and Shawn was supposed to have a rematch here after last years Wrestlemania where Shawn defeated Bret for the title and Bret was to suppost to get the title back from Shawn here a year later at this Wrestlemania. But that was before Shawn had to release the title due to injury and go "find his smile." So therefore, Bret won the vacated title but would soon lose it to Sid and in their Steel Cage rematch where the Undertaker interfered and costed Bret the match which set up this main event between Undertaker and Sid. So thats how the Undertaker and Sycho Sid and not Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels II match came about. As for the match goes, it isn't the greatest Wrestlemania Main Event but it also doesn't come close to being the worst. The match became a brawl that got taken to the outside where Sid punished Taker until the match resumed back into the ring. Towards the end, Bret Hart would come back out again to distract Sid. After the distraction from Bret, Undertaker hits Sid with the Tombstone to capture his first championship gold at a Wrestlemania. 3.75/5 This Wrestlemania is pretty good. Its far from being the worst. I recommend this cheap for 10 bucks or under or just catch it in the Wrestlemania anthology set. It's apart of Volume 3 in the Wrestlemania sets. Another old WWF tape as this was one of the more unique WrestleMania cards of all time. During this time, the main event was changed in so many ways. After a series of events involving Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels & Sycho Sid, the main event eventually became Sycho Sid defending the WWF Championship against The Undertaker. Speaking of Austin/Bret, they would make even more history at this event as their match has still stood to test of time today. Elimination Match: The Headbangers vs The Godwinns vs The Blackjacks vs Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon. The winners of this match would receive a shot at the WWF Tag Team Championship the next night on RAW. This was one of those matches where not everyone was able to get a moment to shine but still was able to contribute to the match & had a good opener with the Headbangers showing why they were so popular among the fans at the time. Intercontinental Champion Rocky Maivia vs The Sultan. Honky Tonk Man actually joins the commentator's table for this match. This was the match that planted the seeds for Rocky to eventually turn into The Rock as the crowd completely turned & booed Rocky out of the building to the point that they were chanting "Rocky Sucks, DIE Rocky Die" etc. The match itself was decent with cameos from Bob Backlund, The Iron Shiek & Rocky Johnson at the end but the match is mostly remembered for the crowd's reaction. Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Goldust. The end of their long feud over Marlena & for those that don't remember, this was Chyna's WrestleMania debut. Anyways, this was a good match between these two & was much better than their Royal Rumble match that they had earlier in the year as it focused more on the wrestling instead of both men trying to out-heel the other with tons of cheating. But the real highlight here was what Chyna did to Marlena that was something nobody had ever seen before. WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart & The British Bulldog vs Mankind & Vader. This was a unique match since both teams were heels but the crowd was at first cheering for Vader but then got behind Owen & Bulldog midway through the match along with the fact that the tease of breakup between Owen & Bulldog was still going on here. Great tag team match between both teams despite the double countout ending as Owen was workhorse of the team while Bulldog used his power along with Mankind & Vader holding their own despite this being their first time as a tag team. Submission Match: Bret Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin w/Special Referee Ken Shamrock. Before I begin, it should be noted that this was also Ken Shamrock's WrestleMania debut & first major role in the WWF. Honestly, I can try to describe this match but the words that I put down will not do this match justice. This was the match that stole the show, this was the match where the crowd turned against it's hero (Hart) & cheered for the villian (Austin) as they told such a great story here to the point where they switched roles & just like their previous Survivor Series encounter, the match that helped elevate Austin into the superstar that we know him today. Chicago Street Fight: Legion of Doom & Ahmed Johnson vs The Nation of Domination. The Road Warriors were making their return in their hometown to help Ahmed battle Faarooq & his nation. This match lived up to what it was supposed to be & that it was just a wild fight with everyone using various weapons like a stop sign, 2X4ers, chairs, fire extinguishers, a noose rope, trash cans & even the announce table at ringside that lead to Faarooq getting injured in the process along with various members of the Nation getting involved in the action. WWF Champion Sycho Sid vs The Undertaker. Before the match started, Shawn Michaels made his way to the ring to do commentary that eventually lead to Bret Hart coming out & shooting a promo to continue his new heel run that lead to him being powerbombed by Sid, much to the crowd's delight. Undertaker has been known to work with some of the giants in the wrestling business who weren't the best wrestlers & give them one of the best matches of their careers & this was no exception as I always felt that the year 96-97 was Sid's best run of his career. This was mostly a brawl with both men trying to over power the other along with Sid attacking Taker's back to where he slammed him onto the Spanish announce table. With multiple cameos from Bret Hart, Undertaker was able to secure his second WWF Championship & for those history fans, his 6th WrestleMania victory. Overall, this was one of those events that was better than most people give it credit for as there was solid action throughout the night while at the same time, planting the seeds for the Attitude Era so I highly recommend this WrestleMania. ***I'm typing this review as my own private nostalgia trip. I hope it's helpful, but it's mainly for my own self-indulgence.*** I was 11 when this event was coming to my hometown area. The Rosemont Horizon was recently changed to the All-State Arena. The corny Slammy Awards just took place (Owen Hart "won" his 2nd in the Best Bowtie category!). My local Burger King had WWF cups with wrestlers on the sides. Pretty much all of my classmates got to see the WWF because we faithful few taped every RAW, Shotgun Saturday Night, Superstars, and even LiveWire! Finally, the WWF still insisted that the event was in Chicago. Umm...it's actually in Rosemont, IL...but close enough. And...my parents told me I couldn't go with some friends: "You have school on Monday." "Wrestling encourages violence between you three brothers." "That Stone Cold Steve Austin has a foul mouth." "Chicago's not a very safe area without enough adults." (Again, it's in Rosemont) God bless my parents, but even with a boring as hell main event, I would give almost anything to be with the crowd on this exciting night. WRESTLEMANIA 13 may not be the best of this PPV series, but sometimes it's okay to enjoy an event simply because it was right around the corner. Besides, as I look years later, the 13th WRESTLEMANIA is a pretty solid one from a wrestling perspective. So, without further ado, here are my memories & reviews of the matches: 1) Elimination Match The Godwinns v. The New Blackjacks v. Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon v. The Headbangers ---I watched every episode of WWF TV, and couldn't tell you how this one got booked. But that's okay, because all four of these teams put on a nice crowd-energizing show. If you're not familiar with Furnas & LaFon, that's a shame, because they were a crisp technical duo similar to The Hart Foundation. And the pig farmers, cowboys, and grunge punks managed to keep things going too. This match doesn't hold any significance, but 10 minutes of exciting escapism is enough for me. "7.0 / 10" _______________________________________________ 2) Intercontinental Championship The Sultan v. Rocky Maivia (champion) ---Man, people really despised the clean cut Maivia! I wasn't sure why, but regardless of whether you joined that bandwagon, I still rather enjoy this match. The Sultan (aka "Rikishi") doesn't look like he can have a decent match, but the two opponents actually compliment each other quite well. Plus, seeing Rocky Johnson get involved was entertaining to even a young fan like me who only knew that he was Maivia's daddy. A few months later, we would be introduced to The Rock, but I still remember Rocky Maivia fondly. "7.0 / 10" _______________________________________________ 3) Hunter Hearst Helmsely v. Goldust ---This rivalry actually got some good TV exposure in late 1996. Goldust finally proclaiming that he wasn't gay was...well, a pleasant surprise. Also, I believe this was Chyna's first appearance on WWF PPV. Seeing her mangle Marlena around was rather shocking; say what you will about Chyna's career, but she made an impression for a long time. As for the match, it's MUCH better than their ROYAL RUMBLE encounter. That one just went on and on, with all sorts of blatant cheating. But this contest is a much sharper display between the two wrestlers. One of the night's best! "7.5 / 10" _______________________________________________ 4) Tag Team Championships Vader & Mankind v. Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (champions) ---Another bizarre booking, as Vader & Mankind were allied with the scheming Paul Bearer, yet got mostly positive reactions from the crowd. I never betrayed my loyalty to the Hart Family, both heroes & villains. Most people criticize this match because it ends with a double DQ, and they're absolutely right about that. What they forget was how awesome this tag match was until the finish. Both teams put on an excellent show, and either team could've walked away with the gold. Also, this match was from a time when disqualifications weren't seen as ripoffs to younger fans like me. We only cared about the winners. In this match, all four of them came out on top, in my eyes. "8.0 / 10" _______________________________________________ 5) Submission Match (Guest Referee: Ken Shamrock) 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin v. Bret Hart ---Okay, you all know what happens. This match is really something special. It was the official career-maker for Austin. The crowd switching sides midmatch was very surprising, and remains an awesome listening experience. The commentary as dead-on. The action is exciting. Even when the two guys go in the crowd (usually a boring move), the match is exciting. Austin's bloody cries of pain are pure TV brilliance. Ken Shamrock's stint as a referee was actually a good way to introduce him to WWF audiences. Simply put, you need to see this if you haven't. For those of you have, just be grateful, because it almost didn't take place (more on that later). "10 / 10" _______________________________________________ 6) Chicago Street Fight The Nation of Domination v. Ahmed Johnson & The Legion of Doom ---For months, my then-favorite Ahmed Johnson had been battling uphill against this black supremacist group. Finally, Ahmed would get two men with tough Chicago backgrounds (Hawk & Animal) to compete in the first "weapons match" I ever saw. I had never seen an ECW Match, except for when they "invaded" RAW for a brief while. And to finally see the NOD to get their bodies beaten was just a glorious thrill. Years later, this is really a guilty pleasure. The whole match is sloppy, and the weapons spots are repetitive after a while. It's still entertaining, but my memories are more enjoyable than yours may be. "6.0 / 10" _______________________________________________ 7) WWF Championship The Undertaker v. Sycho Sid (champion) ---First, a little background: Undertaker was always the guy who never lost fair and square. Shawn Michaels was heavily despised by me, and I couldn't have been happier when Sid won the belt from him. And Bret Hart's heel promo only made me a stronger fan of his. In my mind, HBK was the jackass, and Hart's future anti-American angles made a lot of sense to me. The RAW before this WRESTLEMANIA had a Bret/Sid Steel Cage Match, where Austin & Undertaker helped their WM opponents (!) so that they could get the WWF Title Match in 6 days. This WRESTLEMANIA main event almost never happened, and although I was thrilled to see Taker win the belt, I have never EVER been able to watch this 30-minute borefest in one sitting. Undertaker hadn't been using his technical prowess for very long, and Sid's big-man offense forced him to compete in that slow "Dead Man" style. HBK's guest commentary wasn't anything special. Even with Sid going to the top rope for a few moves, the whole thing just plodded endlessly. I've actually fastforwarded this match from start to finish, and it's still unbelievably slow. There've only been a handful of worse WRESTLEMANIA main events. Sid's role in the WWF diminished in the few months to come. Undertaker's 2nd WWF Title reign was arguably his best. Look at my review title, and put an emphasis on the word "Until". "3.0 / 10" _______________________________________________ From a wrestling fan's eyes, this is still a pretty good WRESTLEMANIA to me. But I still remember all the reactions I had when I saw this PPV back in March 1997: "Undertaker's wearing the grey colors, again." "Who is that scary woman with Triple H?" "How dare everyone boo Bret Hart!" "Why is everyone into Steve Austin? He's the bad guy!" "I don't care if Owen stole his 2nd Slammy, he's awesome!" I doubt I'll change the minds of those who dislike WRESTLEMANIA 13. But I doubt they've listened to someone who got so close, and regrets missing a truly pivotal night in his time as a fan. WWF Wrestlemania 13 3/23/1997 Rosemont Horizon,Rozemont Illinois On Air Commentators;Vince McMahon,Jim Ross, and Jerry the King Lawler and Shawn Michaels would be the guest commentator for the main event between The Undertaker/Sycho Sid for the WWF Title. # 1 contenders match for the WWF Tag Team Titles; The Headbangers(Mosh and Thrasher)defeated The New Blackjacks(Barry Windham and Justin Hawk Bradshaw)The Godwinns(Phineas and Henry)and Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon in an Four Way Tag Team Elimination Match to earn a shot at the WWF Tag Team Championship. WWF Intercontinental Title Match; Rocky Mavia defeated The Sultan w/Bob Backlund and The Iron Sheik to retain the WWF Intercontinental Title.(Rocky Mavia is The Rock in case you didnt know that and this is his Wrestlemania debut. The night before the p.p.v at the 1997 Slammy Awards the Rock aka Rocky Mavia won the 1997 New Sensation of the Squared Circle Award.Well anyway Rocky Mavia defeated The Sultan(who is Rikishi the Rocks cousin)after an rollup. After the match Rocky Mavia would get attacked by the Sultan and The Iron Sheik and out of no where Rocky Johnson(the Rocks dad)would come out to help his son.Rocky Mavia and The Sultan would have another match at Survivor Series 2000 under different gimmicks;Rocky Mavia as the Rock and The Sultan as Rikishi). HHH w/Chyna defeated Goldust w/Marlena(I liked their match at the 1997 Royal Rumble better seeing that then the Intercontinental Title was on the line before HHH lost it to Rocky Mavia the month before on Raw). WWF Tag Team Title Match; WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart and The British Bulldog(Davey Boy Smith)fought Mankind and Vader w/Paul Bearer to a double count out. Therefore Owen Hart and The British Bulldog retain the WWF Tag Team Titles.(This was a rare "heel vs heel" tag team title match). Submission Match; Bret "Hitman" Hart defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin in an submission match w/guest referee Ken Shamrock after Stone Cold passed out from Bret Harts sharpshooter.(It was going to be HBK/vs Bret for the WWF Title before the "lose my smile thing" came about so instead of the rematch between HBK/Bret for the WWF Title from Wrestlemania 12,Bret got to face Stone Cold Steve Austin in an submission match instead. This match made Austin turn face(good)and Bret turn heel(bad). In the end after an 25 minute classic Bret Hart won after Austin passed out from the Sharpshooter. After the match Bret wouldnt back off of Austin and ended up getting suplexed by Ken Shamrock(the guest referee from the UFC)for his troubles.***** classic match!Good work Bret!). The Legion of Doom(Hawk and Animal) and Ahmed Johnson defeated The Nation of Domination(Faarooq,Crush, and Savio Vega)w/Wolfie D,J.C Ice, PG-13 Clarence Mason and Dlo Brown)in an Six Man Chicago StreetFight. WWF Title Match; The Undertaker defeated Sycho Sid to win the WWF Title following an "tombstone pilderiver.(Shawn Michaels was the guest commentator for the match). Overall a classic Wrestlemania.Even though Shawn Michaels refused to job to Bret Hart, they made up for it w/the classic submission match a match that made Stone Cold's rise to the top.And the WWF Title Match between Sycho Sid and The Undertaker was also pretty good which kicked off the "Era Of darkness" in the WWF.They would have an rematch for the WWF Title on 6/2/1997 on Raw which was one week before the 1997 King of the Ring. The Undertaker would win that match too by the way. Also this would be Bret Harts last Wrestlemania. Match 1:4 Corners Elimination #1 Contenders match: Headbangers vs The Godwins vs Doug Furnas & Philip LaFon vs The New Blackjacks. 7/10 Match 2:WWF Intercontinental Championship:Rocky Mavia vs The Sultan. 7/10 Match 3:Hunter Hearst Helmsly vs Goldust. 7/10 Match 4:WWF Tag Team Championship:Owen Hart & British Bulldog vs Vader & Mankind. 8/10 Match 5:Submission I Quit match:Bret "the hitman" Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin. 10/10 Match 6:Chicago Street Fight:Ahmed Johnson & Legion Of Doom vs The Nation Of Domination. 9/10 Match 7:WWF Championship:Undertaker vs Psycho Sid. 8/10 Average Rating:![]() |

WWE WrestleMania IX [VHS]ReviewsYeah this PPV gets a bad rap, but it ain't that bad. Sure, the main event is bogus, the Undertaker match isn't as good as it could have been, and the IC championship had one of the worst endings ever to an amazing match. Overall it was pretty fun. Macho Man and Bobby The Brain have some pretty funny banter and the fact its outside is pretty sweet. I'd chose Wrestlemania X over this, but its a must for any fan of the early 90s. Considered as one of the worst Wrestlemania's, I dug it out to see how bad it was. It's too bad Savage is on commentating rather then wrestling at this event. Tatanka VS Shawn Michaels: When I was young Tatanka was my favorite wrestler. Micheals hit a super kick as Tatanka came off the top rope was a cool moment. The match was slow paced but had its moments. A near twenty minute opener with a bad ending. Steiner Brothers VS Headshrinkers: Thank god they didnt use Bushwhackers or Beverly Brothers. A great tag match and the last few minutes were exciting. Crush VS Doink: Doink could wrestle despite the stupid gimmick. It was a decent feud but I dont remember Crush every winning. The ending was lame. Razor Ramon VS Bob Backund: I'd say a squash match but Backlund did get a few moves in here and there. A fine match with a quick, weird finish. Money Inc VS Mega Maniacs: A typical Hogan tag match, with his partner getting beat and Hogan trying to get in. The match was fine but the ending sucked. Mr Perfect VS Lex Luger: Mr Perfect screws up the prematch interview in a funny moment. A good match even though the ending was a little stupid. HBK attacks Perfect after the match in a violent encounter that was rarely seen back in those days. Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez: Not as bad as I remeber or thought. The ending once again sucked. Bret Hart VS Yokozuna: These two put on a great match; I really liked this feud. Yoko pins Hart after Fuji helps and out comes the man who ruined WWF-Hulk Hogan! Hogan pins Yoko within seconds for the world title in a dumb move. Hogan would be gone from WWF in a matter of months to usher in the new era. A decent WrestleMania that had good matches but the results were disappointing. The main event was good but I hated Hogan winning the title. It was the last of the classic WrestleMaina's as WWF would go on to the new generation within a year. very sorry wrestlemaina out of all the 22 this one ranks 21st, second to last, not only does Bret get Screwed Beefcake gets screwed also, hart shouldve retianed the title, Hogan and Beefcake with the tag belts wouldve been awesome, horrible undercard only hbk delivered as he carried Tatanka to a good match, this one is very poor, only better than the hideous wm 2000. 1. WWF Championship Match: Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs Razor Ramon. winner: Bret Hart (same as Royal Rumble 93) 2. WWF Tag Team Championship Match: Monet Inc. vs The Mega Powers. winner: Money Inc. (same results as the original) 3. Carreer Match: Ric Flair vs Mr. Perfect. winner: Mr. Perfect. 4. Earthquake vs Yokozuna. winner: Yokozuna. Still The Same Cards. Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez. winner: Undertaker. (same results) 6. WWF Intercontinental Championship Match: Shawn Michaels vs Tatanka. Tatanka by DQ. (same results) 7. Steiner Brothers vs The Headshrinkers. winner: The Steiner Brothers. 8. 20 Man Battle Royal. winner: Marty Jannetty. will get any title shot and choose Shawn Michaels. One of the below average Wrestlemania's I've seen. The only standout matches on this program were Bret vs. Yokozuna and Shawn Michaels vs. Tatanka and they both had horrible endings especially Bret's where Hulk Hogan's ego pretty much made this Wrestlemania that much worse. A good key thing for this Wrestlemania was the debut of Jim Ross. I wouldn't mind if Jim Ross, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan commentated for this Wrestlemania as it probably would've made this one better. Average Rating:![]() |

WWE: Shawn Michaels - My JourneyReviewsI was really considering buying this DVD. Until I noticed that there are no matched with Shawn facing Razor Ramon. Those matches were classics. Fort the 1-2-3 Kid and the Bulldog where is Razor (oozing machozmo) Ramon. From start to finish this dvd set delivers the very best of the heart break kid. The matches are presented in their entirety and the match selection could not be better. The interviews are very candid and real bringing out a side of Shawn Michaels most people have never seen. You could see his passion for the business through his recollections and matches that will go down in history. The Wrestlemania 25 match between The Undertaker and HBK alone is worth the price of the set. Any HBK fan is in for a treat with this one. Highly recommended. A true Classic. Thank You for such an amazing collection. ok you get 20 matchs on this dvd set. a 1/3 from HBKs tag team days, a 1/3 from his IC title days, and a 1/3 from his world title/being a veteran days. this is a pretty good set. alot of these matchs are not very hard to find on other dvd sets. yet to have them all nice and organized is nice. on all 3disc, it goes-a small interview with M cole, then a match. this is the format through out all of the dvd. the interview sessions are OK. at times its alittle mono tone....kinda comes off strange. thankfully HBK keeps it alive by answering questions out of charector....yet he doesnt go to far into juicy details which is disapointing. as far as matchs, you got tag matchs vs the hart foundation, singles vs 123kid,a raw is war match vs foley,IC title match vs bret, casket match vs undertaker,WM 19 vs jericho, unforgiven vs jericho, and of course WM25 vs undertaker. this really is a good WWE dvd. i suggest as a HBK fan this dvd for good ol HBK matchs, and then heartbreak and triumph for the good story on HBKs career. those two dvds combined=all you need in your HBK libary. I hope people from WWE read these reviews because I would really like for them to know that I love the format that used to put this DVD together. There is no documentary, instead Shawn sits down with Michael Cole and is interviewed about his career and what the circumstances were behind each match selected for this DVD. I loved it, it reminded me of the Legends of Wrestling Roundtable discussions shown on WWE 24/7. Do they touch on the most important parts of Shawn's career? No, but that's due to the match selection. A good example of this is how they mention Montreal in one sentence, and that's it, they didn't dedicate any time to that subject because the match isn't on this set. But what they do discuss is excellent. I love to see wrestlers reflecting on their careers, and doing it in an honest way where they focus on reality and not the storyline aspects. If I want the storyline version, I'll watch the matches and interviews from the shows, so this is great. I would love to see Bret Hart, Chris Jericho and especially Undertaker do a similar DVD set like this. If you think this latest DVD set of Shawn is overkill and you're thinking of passing on it, don't! This DVD is worth every penny for the interview segments, the matches are just an added bonus. Some of the interview segments are short, others are long, but I thought they were all very informative and didn't want the DVD to end. As far as the matches go, there are some real classics on this set. One of my favorites happens to be Shawn vs the Bulldog for the European Title from One Night Only. The crowd heat for this match is the kind of thing promoters wish they could generate today. It's phenomenal to say the least! Other people have listed the complete match listing, so I'll just list my favorites and say that I can't recommend this set enough. Favorite Matches: 1. Shawn vs Undertaker - WM 25 2. Shawn vs Bulldog - One Night Only 3. Shawn vs Jericho - WM 19 4. Shawn vs Hitman - IC Title from Canada 5. Shawn vs 1-2-3 Kid - Raw 6. Shawn vs Mankind - Raw 7. Shawn vs Angle - WM 21 8. Shawn vs Triple H - Boot Camp match Raw 9. Shawn vs Undertaker - Casket match from Royal Rumble Shawn Michaels is undeniably one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots. As a big fan of Shawn Michaels, I am glad to see that another DVD release is coming out! Although there are many excellent pro wrestlers...Shawn Michaels is and always will be the greatest entertainer that pro wrestling has ever seen! He is the show stopper...the main event...the icon...Mr. Wrestlemania! The heartbreak kid is simply the best! Average Rating:![]() |

Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows - 10th Anniversary Collector's EditionReviewsreally good dvd.... only thing i dindt like it didnt play in my blu RAY Player ig uess its a differant type of disc? i dont know.. but it pl ayed in my region free dvd player fine :p i have watched this documentary over and over it never gets old. bret hart was my favorite wrestler growing up and to see his career in the wwf end like it did was truly heartbreaking. wrestling with shadows is a movie about what goes on behind the curtain, how match outcomes are determined etc.. its a story of loyalty and betrayal. a must have for any wrestling fan. i also enjoyed the bonus dvd the life and death of owen hart it takes you through his whole career leading up to the circumstances surrounding his untimely death in 1999.it was shorter than bret's but i still enjoyed it. This is the best movie ever made about wrestling. However, Bret Hart made his first apperarance in a WWF ring last night since the screw job, and he lets Vince kick him in the gut? Bret, I was gonna buy your book anyway, do you have to let the devil himself promote it? And humiliate you again in the ring? I hope you got at least a million to do it.....I'm not too happy. WWF sucks now without Bret, Austin and Hogan, I'm really glad now that I don't watch it no more. I have been looking forward to watching this for quite some time now; the documentary "wrestling with shadows" is fascinating enough. I've got to say though, that Bret comes off as being very bitter and full of regret; not the best way for people to remember one of the all time greats. The drama and politicing are very interesting and provide lots of insight into the wrestling biz, but I can't help but feeling that this is a bitter propaganda piece meant to smear Vinnie Mac. The real heart of this set comes through in disc 2, which chronicles the life and death of Owen. It also features interviews with the filmaker and Bret from 10 years after the movie release, which shows Bret in a much more thoughtful (and less bitter) light. A word of warning: this movie is a DVD-R; worth every penny for a die-hard fan, but non-collectors may be a bit put off. I am a pleased owner of this two disc set and its an amazing documentary. I love documentaries and this is one of my all time favorite films. I don't want to get into a debate of wrestling and its sub plots but lets suffice to say this exposes much of the hype and behind the scenes politics. The back stabbing that went on during this period are legendary in wrestling circles and the actors/athletes that double crossed Brett Hart went on to make a fortune in the game which shows you how little honor has to do with anything anymore. The bonus disc on his brother Owen who tragically died in a poorly planned and ridiculously dangerous stunt in conjunction with another event could be of interest again to non wrestling fans. I can't recommend this highly enough truly a 5 star film. Average Rating:![]() |

Hart and Soul: The Hart Family AnthologyReviewsThe Hart family is one of itf not the best wrestling families ever. Roddy Piper once said the Harts are the Kennedy's of pro wrestling. This DVD is a look at the history of the hart family from how stu hart founded Stampede Wrestling in 1948 till McMahon bought the terriory in 1984, to the great success of Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart, Owen Hart, The Britsh Bulldog, and even the stars of today like chris jericho, lance storm, and Edge. the matches on this DVD are ones that are on other DVD's like Bret Hart vs Britsh bulldog from SummerSlam 1992 ( on the Bret Hart DVD ) to Bret vs Owen in a steel cage at SummerSlam 1994 ( from wwe bloodbath greatest steelcage matches), and even the 10 man mega tag team match with the hart family vs Stone cold Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, Goldust, and LOD.Im not saying these aren't good matches Im just saying I wish they had more matches from Stampede Wrestling with a young Bret Hart, Owen hart, Bad News Allen, Jake Roberts, JYD, and Brian pillam. The Documentary should be about an 1 1/2 hour long just talking about the history of this great family this DVD will be out on April 6th. This should be a great DVD here's the match listing for each Disk thanks for reading Disc 1 Stu Hart Falling in Love The Promoter Hart House Riches to Rags All in the Family Hart Foundation / British Bulldogs Stampede Sold Dean International Spotlight Family Feud Canada's Family Struggles Within Family Tragedy Third Generation Reflections Special Features * Stu the Athlete * Helen's Car Accident * Terrible Ted the Wrestling Bear * A Letter from Dean * Stu vs. The Tiger * A Hart Family Thanksgiving - 1987 * Helen Throws in the Towel * Owen the Prankster * Chris Jericho's Flight with Owen * The Uninvited Guest * Bret "Hit Man" Hart Returns to WWE * Post-Raw Celebration (Raw - January 4, 2010) Disc 2 Introduction with The Hart Dynasty 6-Man Tag Team Match Keith Hart, Bruce Hart & Bret Hart vs. The Kiwis & Dynamite Kid Stampede Wrestling - May 1979 Stampede Arrives in WWE World Tag Team Championship Match Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs Boston Garden - November 1, 1986 An Unforgettable Match Intercontinental Championship Match Bret "Hit Man" Hart vs. British Bulldog SummerSlam - August 29, 1992 The Hart Family in a WWE Ring Family Feud Match Bret "Hit Man" Hart, Owen Hart, Bruce Hart & Keith Hart vs. Shawn Michaels & His Knights Survivor Series - November 24, 1993 Brothers vs. Brothers Bret "Hit Man" Hart & Owen Hart vs. Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner Florence, SC - January 11, 1994 Ripped Apart at the Seams World Tag Team Championship Match Bret "Hit Man" Hart & Owen Hart vs. The Quebecers Royal Rumble - January 22, 1994 Disc 3 Sibling Rivalry Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship Bret "Hit Man" Hart vs. Owen Hart SummerSlam - August 29, 1994 The Hart Family Settles It in the Ring Bret "Hit Man" Hart & British Bulldog vs. Owen Hart & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart Raw - November 7, 1994 Decorated in Gold European Championship Match Owen Hart vs. British Bulldog Raw - March 3, 1997 Front and Center 10-Man Tag Team Match Bret "Hit Man" Hart, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart & Brian Pillman vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, Goldust & Legion of Doom In Your House: Canadian Stampede July 6, 1997 Border Wars 6-Man Tag Team Flag Match Bret "Hit Man" Hart, Owen Hart & British Bulldog vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker & Dude Love Raw - July 21, 1997 Passing the Torch WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match The Hart Dynasty vs. D-Generation X SmackDown - December 25, 2009 The Best is Yet to Come Alot of these matches are available elsewhere...I was hoping for more rare matches, and more Hart Foundation matches, and more Owen matches...no New Foundation matches (even though they stunk), and no Owen ans Koko matches when they teamed up...oh well, here is what u are gonna get... In the mean time, this release is a can't miss for me! Average Rating:![]() |

Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of WrestlingReviewsSimply put, The Best book out there if you want to see how pro wrestling was & is today. I am a big wrestling fan, so I have read many books by Wrestlers or the sport of Wrestling, and I found this book to the best. It tells the true side of wrestlers good and bad. Shows how life on the road (back then) was not what we know or think we know today. If your looking for a wrestling book to tell the truth about life of a wrestler you have to read this one. It will open your eyes to the real hardships of wrestling. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of the wrestlers he talks about and I have heard lots of stories of being on the road and this books tells all. I know a few things about the wrestling world since I date a wrestler and have been part of some of the shows. Hope to one day meet Bret Hart and say thank you for sharing his life with us. He is "the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be".-(quoted by Ric Flair) Whereas Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling is a long 500 plus pages, it is indeed a very real account of Bret Hart's career in wrestling. The beginning parts of the book show Bret's humble beginnings. One of twelve children, he was viewed as part of a crazy wrestling family. In a family of that size there were bound to be clashes and a main one started with his sister Ellie which continued into adulthood. Bret's relationships with Diane, Georgia and some of his brothers were not so great either. Nonetheless, when a film career did not originally pan out, Bret was brought into the Stampede Wrestling world where he paid his dues. Eventually Vince McMahon appeared on the scene and thus the long up and down career with the World Wrestling Federation began. It was very interesting to learn about the ups and downs of Bret's early tenure with McMahon. He was insecure if he would stay a part of the then WWF. Nonetheless, Bret had some savvy and his idea of turning heel and being paired with Jim Neidhart proved to be a good career move. Its very interesting to read about the on stage feuds with the British Bulldogs and the details behind the title change. Dynamite Kid was such a big influence to Bret that Dynamite's(Tom)career had many ups and downs. Its kind of sad the way Dynamite faded away into obscurity as he was a true talent for his size. Also interesting was Bret's evolving opinions about Hulk Hogan and negative feelings towards the Ultimate Warrior. He sure was not alone about The Warrior. Also, of great interest was the constant tension between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. At first there was mutual respect. But later on one could sense the general mistrust between the two. Part of the problem was Shawn Michael's rowdy personality coupled with pills vs Bret's more low key demeanor. Mistrust grew and finally the Montreal Screwjob of 1997 caused a huge rift between these two men until possibly a month and a half ago. One wonders how real the makeup on WWE TV between Bret and Shawn was heartfelt. Maybe its part of the storyline. Anyway, the heart of what makes this book great is the very detailed accounts of the WWE(F) lockeroom. Bret covers extensive ground on the major players, mid levels stars and jobbers with honesty. Key matches and moments are outlined very learly where one gets a perfect picture of what was happening inside the ring and out. No other wrestling book covers the details as well as Bret. His feelings towards Shawn are a little biased. But some of it is justified. The issues such as Owen Hart, WCW, Bret's Stroke, Bret's divorce and changes in relationship with Vince McMahon make for a very intersting read. I wish I heard more about the events leading up to mother Helen Hart's death. But much is said about Stu. Its also amazing how Bret has a relatively good relationship with Jim Neidhart while a lousy one with Ellie(Jim's wife and Bret's sister). Would like to know why the relationship was so strained. Whereas the book isn't absolutely perfect, Bret Hart's biography comes very close and excellently executes the life of Bret Hart. Hart does not claim to be a saint. However, he has feelings and emotions and that is a main strong point of this autobiography. Hart tells as he sees it in his autobiography. He used daily diary entries he created during his career as a primary source which leads to its authenticity. A great look behind the curtain of the world of the squared circle. Bret Hart is one of the few true icons of professional wrestling. The Hitman is a tireless worker, a flawless technician, and ferociously loyal to a business that's as much about family as showmanship. His name is synonymous with professionalism and skill, and his story is the stuff of wrestling history. In //Hitman//, Bret recounts the maturation of a wrestler, from his early days at Stampede Wrestling, his father's company, through his rise to stardom in the WWF, his ugly public exit from the company, the injury that ended his career, and his journey through personal and professional tragedy. Undoubtedly the highlight of the book is Bret's unflinching look at one of wrestling's greatest scandals, colloquially known as the Montreal Screwjob, offering valuable insight into the players involved and the motivations behind it. But the same brutal honesty pervades the entire book, and it's to Hart's credit that he can look at himself through the same lens as those he finds lacking. There are moments of tenderness and bitter memories alike, but overall, //Hitman// is at once a fitting tribute to a wrestling legend and a sobering look at the ups and downs of a singular business. Forget everything you thought you knew about the insane world of professional wrestling. The sixth son of legendary Canadian wrestling promoter Stu Hart, Bret Hart was born into wrestling royalty. From his early twenties until he retired at forty-three, Hart kept an audio diary, recording stories of the wrestling life: the relentless travel, the practical jokes, the sex and steroids and cocaine, and the real rivalries (as opposed to the staged ones that unfolded before the fans)... |
