Michael Jeffrey Jordan (born February 17, 1963) is a retired American professional basketball player and active businessman. His biography on the National Basketball Association (NBA) website states, "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time." Jordan was one of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation, and was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.

After a stand-out career at the University of North Carolina, Jordan joined the NBA's Chicago Bulls in 1984. He quickly emerged as one of the stars of the league, entertaining crowds with his prolific scoring. His leaping ability, illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line at Slam Dunk Contests, earned him the nicknames "Air Jordan" and "His Airness". He also gained a reputation as one of the best defensive players in basketball. In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a "three-peat". Though Jordan abruptly left the NBA at the beginning of the 1993-94 NBA season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Bulls in 1995 and led them to three additional championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 1995–96 season. Jordan retired for a second time in 1999, but he returned for two more NBA seasons in 2001 as a member of the Washington Wizards.

Jordan's individual accolades and accomplishments include five MVP awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances and three All-Star MVP, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. He holds the NBA record for highest career regular season scoring average with 30.12 points per game, as well as averaging a record 33.4 points per game in the playoffs. In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press's list of athletes of the century. He will be eligible for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Jordan is also noted for his product endorsements. He fueled the success of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1985 and remain popular today. Jordan also starred in the 1996 feature film Space Jam. He is currently a part-owner and Managing Member of Basketball Operations of the Charlotte Bobcats in North Carolina.

This film is very historically correct (I live in south central Pennsylvania and have visited the battlefield many times). The casting and acting are superb. The scenery is breathtaking. However, the DVD version is manufactured on a strange double-sided long play disc. So, you have to remove the DVD at mid-point in the movie and flip it over. Also, the DVD does not alway synchronize the sound track properly on the second side, so you sometimes have to restart it a couple of times to get it to sync. Assuming that the original master film is of sufficient quality (it should be since the companion film, Gods and Generals, has been released in Blu-ray, and it was prior in time), a Blu-ray release of Gettysburg would indeed be a historical treasure. Additionally, a Blu-ray release would eliminate the troublesome need to manually flip over the disc to see the remainder of the movie, since a Blu-ray disc would have more than sufficient capacity on the single side of a disc. The Blu-ray version would also provide greater capacity for auxiliary tracks and greater sound depth. I sure hope that someone persuades the film maker to release a Blu-ray version, and if they did, I would buy it immediately, even though I already own the DVD version.

I love this movie, as well as Gods and Generals. I just hope that The Last Full Measure is also made into a movie.

Purchased this for my son-in-law, a semi-serious Civil War buff, but now a busy Naval officer. Watched it together. He said it was the most nearly accurate telling of the battle he has viewed. I only wish I had seen this movie before I visited the actual battlefield years ago. I thought the language was somewhat stilted, but then, I had to remember that was the way people talked ~150 years ago. Perhaps some of the portrayals of the Southern leaders came across a bit too strident, but, hey, I have yet to meet a born Southerner that was not passsionate about the topic. Aside: I married into a Virgina family with down-country roots dating back to the early-1800's. Others watching it thought it ran a bit long, but the battle did take place over 3 days. Buy it and have an extra bag of popcorn ready to toss into the mircowave.

This video was purchased for my grandson for Christmas. He was very pleased with this movie.

This is an excellent movie, if you are looking for an historically accurate account of the battle of Gettysburg. It is very well done, with meticulous attention to detail. It is an unusual two sided dvd. Highly recommended!

Once in a while, under a sinking yellow moon, a writer's pen beats in perfect synchronicity with their heart. Then, while the autumn leaves tumble through the crisp air and laughing children frolick in the colour-filled fall, a director finds the words of the writer fill him with joy and sadness. He is forever changed. The Notebook is one of the most beautiful, warming, heart-felt films I have ever seen. The story follows a love story we all wish we could live. It's the reason art exists, to elevate us from the tedium of existence. This film really is a joy to behold, wrenching too. Relax, shed your protective shell's, and let the film wash over you like a warm summer breeze. *****WARNING***** If you allow it, the film will provoke a truly strong reaction that will leave you altered, maybe wanting, for life...

Read the book, I enjoyed it much more than the movie. The movie is abridged plus added material which isn't in the book. If you like Hollywood drama is one thing but the book goes into detail which relates to real life and gives you a feeling of essence of life and what it is to love another human being. Nicholas Sparks is an exceptional writer. Every time I read the Notebook I cry as if it is my first time. I will mention in passing I saw the movie "A Walk to Remember" and also read the book. There too the movie is much more removed from the book (than the Notebook) with a lot left out. To be in sync with real life better read the books than to buy the dvd's!

This is one of my all time favoritest movies. Heartwarming, tearjerking, funny, romantic, charming...Beautifully done!

An old man in a nursing home reads a story to an old woman each day. The story he reads follows two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun. They met one evening at a carnival many years ago. Allie's parents separate Noah and Allie. They disapprove of Noah's lack of wealth, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and becomes engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. In a local newspaper, Noah's picture catches Allie's eye. He is standing in front of a fully restored, 200 year old home. The article is filled with praise for his accomplishments. Allie's heart nearly bursts. The last time she saw this house it was a rotted decaying shamble. She stood enfolded in Noah's arms in the great entryway and listened to his plans to buy and restore this house. Just the way she wanted it. With her love for Noah still alive, the picture pulls at her heart. She has to go back, see if Noah is okay, and tell him about her marriage. They both think the echo deep in their hearts, the one that has lasted all these years, is not shared by the other. The cry they could not stifle. It wasn't over for me. This movie will keep you guessing at the outcome, and delivered twists throughout the whole movie. The Notebook is extremely well constructed, and a truly remarkable movie.

A very good love story. I liked it more than I thought I would. Very well done. I would see it again.

Average Rating:

When you consider that old-fashioned tearjerkers are an endangered species in Hollywood, a movie like The Notebook can be embraced without apology. Yes, it's syrupy sweet and clogged with clichés, and one can only marvel at the irony of Nick Cassavetes directing a weeper that his late father John--whose own films were devoid of saccharine sentiment--would have sneered at...

Brewster Mccloud [VHS] Brewster Mccloud [VHS]

Reviews

This is a follow-up to Dr. Paddon's review from nine months ago. The DVD version he bought in 2008 is a fraud. "Brewster McCloud" never has been released on DVD. What Dr. Paddon got was a disc containing a direct transfer from the VHS cassette version that the MGM studio released in 1993. Somebody who has access to a machine that transfers VHS cassettes to DVD discs ripped off Dr. Paddon for 10 or 20 dollars. This somebody used to operate a web site called [..]. Like Dr. Paddon, I, too, noticed the site in 2008 and bought this movie on DVD. I noticed the absence of the MGM logo on the box or disc. There is a fradulent logo that says "DVD Video." It would be nice if the copyright holder of "Brewster McCloud" reads this. Maybe it's somebody who works for MGM, which did in fact release the movie on VHS cassette in 1993. The reason Dr. Paddon noticed a lack of detail in the actors' costumes and in the Houston scenery is that he was watching the VHS cassette version transferred to a disc. "Brewster McCloud" has yet to be restored with detail from the 35 millimeter negative. It has yet to be released on DVD. The quality of the movie (minus the technical issue of whatever detail can be salvaged from the 35 millimeter negative -- such as Shelley Duvall's eyelashes ?) is awesome. The screenplay, radical process of storytelling and performances are top notch. Maybe all the detail from the 35 millimeter negative will reach a wide audience again.

Memo to whomever owns the copyright for Robert Altman's movies: You must do a restoration job and release the DVD all over again. I realize that amazon.com does not list a Brewster McCloud DVD or sell it. I am writing this for the benefit of people who have bought the DVD from the "animefirst.com" web site. I did that, and I am missing the fine detail that I vividly recall seeing in previous viewings in the theater and on VHS cassette. Every reviewer on this page is reviewing that videocassette version of Brewster McCloud. I don't see any complaints about the fine detail. So I am chiming in here to help animefirst customers who expect a DVD that is on a par with MASH, Nashville and other Robert Altman classics. Animefirst either does not display customer reviews, or it does not display them as prominently as Amazon. So I may be the only person who can point out the poor detail to the Altman Estate. Or is MGM the interested party? Here are two examples. There is a scene during the first 20 minutes in which Brewster, the title character, shoplifts a camera from a camera store while his accomplice Louise shoplifts many rolls of Kodak film. When I watched the VHS cassette from Blockbuster Video in 1996, I could distinguish the Kodak boxes and filters on display in that store. Now I can't. I could see them during a screening at the American Film Institute. Now I can't. The next example is from the finale, and I am not spoiling it. The audience inside the Houston Astrodome is applauding. (I won't explain why nor will I describe what has been / will be in front of them). On the videocassette I could see the faces and bodies of the audience members, many of them heavyset mothers sitting next to children. I also could see them at the American Film Institute. Now I can't. Please do a restoration job and redo the DVD. You owe that to Mr. Altman's memory and to older citizens of Houston who would love to see buildings and roads that are gone now. Local historians in Houston would love to see the Astroworld theme park with its boat ride that was demolished in 2005. Oldtimers in Houston's local cultural scene (theater and talk radio) would love to see more detail in Mr. Dean Goss during the few seconds Mr. Altman put him on the screen. Mr. Goss died at age 56. I have never even lived in Houston, but I love the way this film is the first color film to capture the landscape of a city other than New York or Los Angeles. The Empire State Building and the Sunset Strip are fun places to visit, and bravo to "An Affair To Remember" and "The Graduate" for capturing them, respectively, in color so long ago. But did you know that civilization existed outside New York and Los Angeles in 1970? I want my kids to see that it did. Please, Mr. or Ms. Copyright Holder, do something about this! I don't want my money back. I want my son and daughter to get their chance for enlightenment back. I am a professor of American history at two community colleges in the Raritan Valley region of New Jersey. It would be wrong for my children to think that all the birds that were alive in 1970 lived in Central Park eating scraps from corned beef sandwiches and hot pretzels. That's not the way it was. Yes, we have color pictures from Sesame Street in 1969 and 1970, but they are all from New York. When the Children's Television Workshop taught kids what water was, they showed fountains in New York but nowhere else. Yes, we have Hitchcock's "The Birds" filmed in color on location in Bodega Bay, California in 1962, but many of those birds were fake, and the whole thing was a macabre fantasy. Show me the rest of the United States. Show me more of Margaret Hamilton's patriotic attire while she sings our national anthem. (That's the second scene in Brewster McCloud for those of you who haven't seen it.) Show me her stripes and the pattern. Please don't tell me Holly Golightly was an outspoken Texan who liked the Star-Spangled Banner. That would be fraudulent history. As the poet Howard Nemerov said, "The reason certain people don't learn from history is that they aren't the people who learned last time." Thanking you in advance. Now my review has three stars. Give my son and daughter more of the truth, in living color, and I will add two. Kids won't sit through two hours of black and white, you know.

I saw this movie when it came out, and stayed in the theater to see it over again in the hope of understanding at least what was going on. After all, it was Altman, for whom straightforward movies like M*A*S*H are a rarity. But, nada. Bud Cort is an appealing guy who deserved a better career, and he'll be remembered for Harold and Maude, but this one was a mistake. Maybe if the soundtrack had been by Cat Stevens. . .

I saw this movie after it was released on a double bill with Catch 22 in a small art house movie theater in New York's Greenwich Village near NYU. It is one of those movies that is over the top and over the edge and could have only been made with the alienated and questioning sensibility of the times. This is one movie I would own on DVD if it ever came out on DVD. Robert Altman knew how to make a movie and this was one of the greats.

Introverted man builds a self-powered flying machine and is protected from harm by supernatural beings. Offbeat (very offbeat) character-driven combination of black comedy, action and satire of American middle-class values. Casual acting and direction style add to the fun.

Average Rating:

Robert Altman: You've just been nominated for an Oscar (for M*A*S*H) and given the keys to Hollywood--what are you going to do next? Leave it to eternal maverick Altman to turn around and make this wickedly loony, esoteric (and little-seen) comedy, about an odd loner (Bud Cort as the title character) whose dream is to build a pair of wings in his aerie in the Houston Astrodome that can really fly...

Green Lantern: First Flight (Two-Disc Special Edition) Green Lantern: First Flight (Two-Disc Special Edition)

i thought this was a very well done animated movie.it's the origin story of how Hal Jordan became a Green Lantern.i have no idea how close it is to the original comic book origin.but i do knew,i loved the story.i thought it flowed very well, with a good mixture of action and drama.i thought the voice acting was terrific.plus, they seemed to have a good script to work with.i found the dialogue to be really good,as well.none of the usual cheese we tend to see in many animated or even live action movies.i think this particular animated film is as good as any of the recent spate of releases by both Marvel and DC,and it's certainly as entertaining.for me,Green Lantern:First Flight is a 4/5

It's as good as can be expected for a cartoon movie about an underappreciated DC Comics character. Sure, he's not Superman but I find the story of Hal Jordan and the Green Lanter Corps to be the most interesting of all the DC universe. This rendition is not exactly how it happened but it's close enough for CA movie standards; meaning movies that claim to be "based on a true story" are about 50% accurate at best. I look forward to the live-action movie coming out 2011.

Green Lantern is one of those characters in the DC Universe that never got the respect that other DC superheroes got via TV series, movied, or prime billing in cartoons. So unless you're a hardcore GL comics reader, you might not have a good background on the Green Lantern character or mythology. Don't worry ! This is a top-flight Blu-Ray disc in both substance and style. Their is plenty of action, great fight scenes, funny lines, and a tight, compact story. The origins of the Green Lantern Corps, the Green Lantern and Guardians mythology, the green vs.yellow battle -- it's all covered. The story moves very fast and you will not find yourself saying 'come on, come on, get to the good stuff.' The 1080p Blu-Ray Hi-Def production doesn't disappoint and on my Sony 460 Blu-Ray player and a 720p 2006 model plasma, the colors and animation stood out with amazing brilliance. I understand that some characters in the comics are not featured here and a few disappear in this story and timeline, but I'll leave that debate to the GL purists. There are some nice features on the BR disc, including some nice episodes from Justice League Unlimited that feature the Green Lantern (John Stewart, though). Special features from the people behind the cartoons, the movie, and the Green Lantern comics make for interesting reading for GL novices and experts. All in all, a top-notch Blu-Ray addition that you will definitely put in the player again after you've seen the movie the first time. You'll find yourself fast-forwarding to the numerous action sequences, conflicts, and the spectacular climactic ending battle numerous times. Let's hope that DC comes out with a worthy sequel featuring the same voice actors and actresses. This is one of the top if not THE top animation movies from either DC or Marvel that has been put out to date and you will NOT be disappointed.

This movie is a tough one to review. I always try to review movies in the context of what they were attempting to do, e.g. a slapstick comedy cannot be compared to a drama. That said, hard to tell what they were going for here. Maybe its a cartoon movie just for 18-24 year olds? If that is the case, its a narrow demographic target. I won't go into the whole fanboy argument of how much fidelity this has for the comic book established material. I think they did an OK job of capturing the mythos of GL. I would have liked to have seen them go a bit further though. Iron Man gave a fresh treatment to the IM material. GL is something that really calls out for a fresh take. The GL corps always struck me as too much ST the Next Generation. People are too comfortable with aliens, bad food jokes aside. There should be more genuine wonder to alien civs. This is more a fault of the source material though and not the movie. The biggest problem I have with this movie is that GL should be a kid's movie. A lot of parents want to pass on characters they grew up with. This movie contains some graphic torture, heaps of bloody deaths and impalements with copious blood. When this stuff is needed for a story, I am ok with it-but the graphic blood seems extraneous to the story. With a bit of editing, there is no reason they could not have made this a kid friendly movie. The voice acting was pretty good. I liked the way they crafted Sinestro's personality and motivations. He is portrayed as kind of a mini-Stalin-he just wants to bring order to an unruly galaxy even if he has to murder everyone in his way. The smurfs come across as pretty lame, they should have seemed more grand and omniscient.

Not a great film, the Justice League (specially season one) are much better. The story line could have been created with more interesting parts. I know this is a "cartoon" but I expected a more grown up one, this one seems very childish at some points. The Blu Ray version was not "mind blowing" like others (Battle for Terra, Serenity, etc.) so not worth it.

Green Lantern: First Flight is an animated and lively origin story about the transformation of test pilot Hal Jordan into a member of an intergalactic society watching over the universe. I would recommend the movie "Love Finds a Home" for the famiy to view together. There are trials and joys. There is love and laughter. In our everyday world we face a lot of things and sometimes a look at what someone else has gone through can give us a diferent perspective to look at for ourselves today. Watch and enjoy!

We have this whole series and have watched them more than once. Great family movies and everyone can get something out of them to apply to their own life.

Latest in the Love Comes Softly Series. As good as the previous ones. Highly recommend this if you liked the other ones.

I bought this because I own pretty much the whole series (with the exception of Love takes Wing, which I found to be particularly bad). The poor leads from Love Takes Wing are also stars in this, but do a slightly better job. Story is sweet of course, but it's disappointing that the quality deteriorated with each sequel. For those who love the series, this is worth a watch. If you don't - don't bother.

I have loved this entire series "Love Finds A Home" was so well made it's perfect to end the series! My only wish is that this set would've been made into a weekly tv series like Little House on the Prairie, Christy, or the Waltons. That way they could've taken more from the books and really developed the lives of the characters even more.

i have seen this so many times and it never gets old. i think everyone has seen this and if not you have possibly been living under a rock. This is a classic in my opinion 5/5

I had fond memories of watching this movie several years ago and wanted to purchase it for my library. When I recently reviewed it, I used the subtitles which took a lot of the luster off the film. I have to rate is as mediocre and caution kids from using subtitles as the conversations are more adult than fun. Also, the story line was not as entertaining as my memory told me it was.

Really fun movie for my basketball fanatics. Combines my son's hero, Michael Jordan, with some of his favorite cartoon characters.

I could not find this in stores anywhere. I found it on Amazon for a very inexpensive price. The quality of the tape was good and the time it got to my address was really fast. Since it arrived my son watches it every day. The seller was correct in the description of the product. Will by from them at anytime.

However, the Nerdlucks turn the tables and steal the talents of leading professional basketball stars to become massive basketball bruisers known as the Monstars. In desperation, Bugs Bunny calls on the aid of Micheal Jordan, the Babe Ruth of Basketball, to help them have a chance at winning their freedom. Space Jam is a very enjoyable movie featuring probably the most popular cartoon characters ever. Space Jam has all the humor of the classic shorts that made us love Bugs, Daffy and all the rest. This is a must for children and adults.

I having been teach ESL students for four years. I found this book to be extremely handy. It is an easy, interesting read and very informative. Any teacher could benefit from the use of most of these strategies. The book offered creative ways to differ your instruction. I love it!

I guess I do not might not know how long it takes for regular shipping to take, but three and a half weeks for expedited mail seems to be a long time. I was kind of upset that I had to pay extra for my book when it did not come in very fast at all.

It is a nice reference material for teaching English to students in structured-content classrooms. At the same time, the techniques described in the book may not be directly applicable for teaching English to students in foreign language environment. The book comes with media, which makes it easier to see how the techniques can be applied.

The book was in brand new condition and it arrived withing 4 days. Great timing and I am really pleased.

This book deals with teaching children English as a second language in public schools from age 5 up to adolescents. I teach primarily adults which this book does not tough upon. For that reason I would only recommend someone buying this book if you only want to teach large classes of children or young adolescents. Not appropriate for adults.

This is a very good look at the inner workings of a basketball team over the course of a season. This does not cover any basketball team, though. This covers a championship team led by perhaps the greatest basketball player in history along with another legend in Scottie Pippen and the greatest coach ever in Phil Jackson. This is the first such book I have read and the amount of turbulence experienced by the 1991 Bulls was a surprise. How could a team win 61 games and romp through the playoffs with such inner instability? Smith primarily covers the 1990-91 season but provides background on the previous seasons. Common themes are Jordan clashing with his coaches, players clashing with management, Jordan's lack of faith in his teammates and his relationship with them, Jerry Krause's eccentric nature, and Phil Jackson's amazing ability to steward the team through such troubled waters to the championship. The book is titled "The Jordan Rules" but it is not just about Jordan. Smith spends some time talking about practically every player on the team, Phil Jackson, Jerry Krause, and Jerry Reinsdorf. He provides a solid context for analyzing and understanding how players in this drama think. When this book was published it was the subject of much controversy because of its does not always show Michael Jordan in a favorable light. From reading the book you can conclude that Smith does not love Jordan. However, how much of that is an inherent dislike of Jordan or simply being turned off toward Jordan based on what he was told by players and coaches, who were the sources for the book? While not hagiographic, the book is not a hatchet job. The facts are there and you can reach your own conclusion. You can interpret Jordan as a jerk or simply driven by a desire to win. Smith does show the positive sides of Jordan too, such as Jordan's tenderness with children and his passion to excel. All in all I consider this book an asset to basketball history.

We can look back now and it is almost humorous that in his first six years in the league it was widely claimed that Micheal Jordan would never win a championship due to his high scoring, lack of a "supporting cast" as Jordan called them, and a selfish unwillingness to give up the ball. This book details the Bulls first of SIX championship runs with Jordan. It is a character study of a whole team and it's management not merely Jordan from whom the book gets its title. "The Jordan Rules" have a double meaning. On one hand it was a particular defense that the Pistons used to contain Jordan and beat the Bulls during games and on the other hand it refers to the unilateral preferential treatment that Jordan received and that his teammates resented. It should be noted that the year this book covers was Phil Jackson's first year as the coach of the Bulls and he implemented the triangle offense to try to include more players. Jackson is also demonstrated to use his psychology on many of his players to get them to play at a higher level and to often sway them into doing what is best for the team. This covers Jordan mania, the entire season both on the court and off, and it also does a pretty good job of giving you insights into the rest of the Bulls players (Pippen, Grant, Armstrong, Cartwright, etc) and how most of them were miserable that season and the individual issues that they each faced. This is still a fantastic sports book and it is now a piece of history considering all of the titles the Bulls were to win it its wake. I recommend this book for any sports fan, not just basketball fans. Kevin W. Mattingly Harrisburg Times.

The book shows just how tough life in the NBA can be, especially when you have a guy like MJ, a selfish ball-hog and control freak. After reading the book, any liking I had for MJ has since vanished. Behind the scenes, the guy is selfish, narcisistic, hyper-competitive person who must win at EVERYTHING he does, and have things HIS way all the time. He even went so far as to never lift weights in the same weight room as the team for fear that one of the players might be able to lift more weight than him. Boo hoo! Imagine that Michael! There might be someone actually stronger than you.

I was truly disgusted with this book. From the onset I read so many falsehoods I thought I was reading the national enquirer. As someone who has followed Michael Jordan throughtout his career I understand that this rag was wrote by someone with an awful agenda.Sam Smith is the first 300 pound white male golddigger I have ever heard of.I was amused at how he put Jordan's thought down like he was a mindreader as well as a hack writer. He actually praised Ed Neely (clearly a good friend or relative)like he was a good player.Neely didn't even average 6 minutes a game but was so valuable in Sammie Smith's mind.Smith even wrote that he was the smartest player on the team(was he good at scrabble or something?Because he wasn't smart enough to get more playing times). He said Bill Cartwright had the best footwork on the teams lol.I guess thats why the refs called him for the most travel calls on the team.John Paxson was also a favorite of his so much in fact he said that he was a good defensive player lol.Shall I believe Sam or my lying eyes.Sam said Horace Grant hated to be a second fiddle to Michael Jordan but dashed to Orlando to play behind Shaq and Penny.I could go on and on about this trainwreck but I have spent enough time on this idiot. So if you are thinking about reading this book do something more interesting watch paint dry.

This is one of the great books that I had a hard time putting down. Sam Smith plays with our intrigue and wins out, enticing us to keep reading as we ask, "Did Isaiah Thomas really say that?" or "How did the Bulls stand together when at least half the team was demanding trades in 1991?" We see them as if we were a part of the team. *Hopson weeping after the 1991 title due to a fleeting feeling of comradely. * Michael Jordan's off-the-court feud with Isaiah Thomas. *Pippen demanding to be traded due to contract negotiations. * Jerry "Crums" Krause being ridiculed publicly by Jordan and his brown-nosing cronies. * Alliances forged through empathetic teammates who viewed the team's other pockets of faction with distrusting, and sometimes vengeful eyes. * Cliff Levingston's constant butt-kissing of "His Airness". * Horace Grant physically standing up to Jordan in practice and bragging about it later. * Scottie Pippen's inward fear of Dennis Rodman. * Phil Jackson's craving to buy a gun after a private meeting with a then-psychotic Scott Williams. * The Pistons' mental control of B.J. Armstrong, Scottie Pippen, and others. * Stacey King and Michael Jordan's verbal wars. * Literal fist fights between certain players in practice. * Jordan's constant campaign to assume control of the team's decision-making processes and how Phil Jackson combated his egocentric, and often enigmatic star. A priviledged look into the makings of one of sports' greatest teams ever, and a eye-opening look into the makings of sports' greatest hero.

Jump Attack: the Ultimate Program On How to Jump Higher and be More Explosive Jump Attack: the Ultimate Program On How to Jump Higher and be More Explosive

Reviews

I'm a coach and an athlete. I like checking out workout programs. There are 4 vertical jump programs I've tried: Jumping into Plyometrics, Air Alert, Jump Attack, and Jump Soles. The jump attack book is full of endorsements, but very few new ideas. The best thing about the book is the explosive sequences that combine weights, jumping, and stretching. For example: 10 squats, then 10 tuck jumps, then quad stretches. However, the weight suggestions (50% of max) is way to high for a beginning athlete. DON'T USE WEIGHTS UNTIL YOU'VE MASTERED CORRECT FORM WITHOUT WEIGHTS. This program is ok for advanced athletes. The book is more fluff than content with about 30 total exercises and endorsement statements every 3 to 5 pages and the illustrations look straight out of the 1950s. If you're a beginner I suggest building up strength by doing exercises from "Training for Speed, Agility and Quickness". It has a book and DVD for $15. $40 for Jump Attack is pricey. If you're willing to spend about $200, I suggest starting with the quickness drills for 2 months ($31), adding some ideas from Jump Attack for 3 months ($40), and then finishing it off with the Jump Soles platform shoes workouts with "Jumping into Plyometrics" for 2 months ($90 to 130). It will take persistence and determination, but your vertical will be over 30 inches in less than a year and you'll be A LOT quicker. If you're a junior in high school right now, do this program in a workout class and you'll be ready to dominate during your senior year. No matter what, do not buy Air Alert. It's a complete rip off. See my review to see why.

I cannot honestly say that the program absolutely works since I have yet to execute it. However, I believe that the principles and exercises absolutely work. They are honed into a system by Mr. Grover and Attack Athletics. I believe Mr. Grover to be at the top in athletic training. His list of clients and their success speaks for itself. As far as the book goes...it looks like it was written in the stone ages! But once you get past its appearance and the stars of yesteryear that appear in the book...it has quality and value. Although I believe it to be somewhat overpriced (what isn't these days???), it can help an athlete get to the next level in sports performance! Do it!

I recently finished reading Tim Grover's jump attack program and was very impressed. It is a unique blend of weights, pyrometrics, & stretching. No real secrets (except timed sets instead of reps) just discipline, focus, and hard work. Tim Grover is 'the guy' in the professional athletic world that the best of the best athletes turn to for advice and training. He's trained Jordan, Kobe & is responsible for Dwayne Wade's recent explosive comeback to be perhaps the best basketball player in the world right now. I turned to him because he is simply the best & I'm sure his program will reflect it. I'm going to put his program to the test and write a pt. 2 review after I have finished. I've been lifting very hard for around 2 months & this alone has increased my vertical enough for me to dunk for the first time off two feet. I'm a 5'11 point guard who is beginning my offseason training with the jump attack program on 5/11/09. I'll be back with results around late August.

This book has great pointers and a very detailed training plan. I would recommend it to anyone willing to go the distance & be dedicated to increasing his/her vertical jump.

From what I'm feeling right now, this is going to be great. Tim Grover breaks down the basic concepts of A.T.T.A.C.K. training, and just training all around. All of the exercises are illustrated very well, and the info in the book is great. He is a real professional. Haha, and trust me, this workout program demands you to work hard. I'd recommend this to anyone serious about getting that extra step on the competition. I would highly recommend having anoher person wih you to help while training because it doesn't go by repetition, it goes by time, and it just makes it more fun.

Now, for the first time ever, you can follow the methods devised by Tim S. Grover for such world champion clients such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwan, Alex Rodriguez and over 30 other pro athletes! The plan can add 6 to 14 inches to your vertical leap in 12 weeks, and is based on exercise science and a unique sequence of explosiveness training...
